re: OLD US COVERS

That is the 1893 Columbian Exposition postal stationary. It's not rare, worth a few dollars. Yours is in good condition. People collect covers for postmarks and towns. I collect the state of New Jersey, and am seeking all 2200 varieties of towns and cancellation varieties. If I collected Virginia state, I'd pay $1-10 for that cover.

If you find any covers with my Ben Franklin stamp (see the stamp in my name block) addressed to Algeria, I'd be interested!

As Tom begins to note, it completely depends on the cover and the viewer. Many of us have specific areas of interest, and if the cover matches it, bingo. If not, well, next.

I, for one, would have no interest in the cover depicted. I don't collect postal stationary nor post marks.

I do collect odd rates, auxillary markings and services, all kinds of damage/return/missent markings, mail to international destinations, and, most especially, tied seals.

If you are thinking of purchasing covers with an eye to reselling here or elsewhere and want more feedback, many of us would be happy to help.

re: OLD US COVERS

Thank you Ben, thank you Tom for valuable information given and help.
Philately in Algeria is not like in Europe or USA or elsewhere, perfectly structured.
After independance (1962), there was many philatelic shops and merchants very specialized, and initiation to philately and specific infos was very easy than todays.
By today we have only one philatelic shop on the Capital and few non specialized merchants who sell what they get on hand.
when I find somthing that I feel interresting, I tried to get info before purchase.

Thanks
Abderrahmane
