I found these two stamps and one appears to be an error, with the one on the right
being lighter blue than the left. I found no color difference in the catalog.
The one on the right seem to either be faded or missing color.. Also the dots that
make up the background on the left seem to be missing altogether on the right..
Any info would be appreciated..

I would guess a color changeling, impacted by sunlight or environmental conditions which changed the color. Note: used stamps are very poor candidates for ‘color error’ examples since no one knows what the stamp has been exposed to over the years.

There were multiple printings, have you checked the watermarks? All three of the printing were litho, I only have used copies to compare. My copies have some differences like yours but being used I cannot tell for sure. Does anyone have mint copies of all three printings?

With three albums of Argentina it just dawned on me that i do not have a unused copy of any of the Iguanu falls issues. To the best of my knowledge my stamp on the left is scott 448 from 1936 and the other is #538 from 1946Image Not Found

Back in the StampWamts days, there was a user, Tony Rubiera (I may have his last name spelled wrong), who posted a very in-depth study that he did on these definitive sets. There were many different printings, and of course paper differences and color varieties.

I want to thank everyone for their inputs. The stamp in question does have the same
watermark..

But Michaels link that he provided gave me the answer. It seem that the stamp on the
right is a plate variety and is shown in the link as having a official overprint as
well..

Thanks once again, your commits and information are greatly appreciated..

There is also a tutorial on the "antipodeian board" which goes in to many pages and a hundred or so posts, and tells you everything you want to know ( and much that you do not ).

It has to be said that Argentine stamps of the period are a bit "rough and ready", and production quality is not of the best, which leads to all sorts of strange effects.

For a country iwth a fairly large educated population...i have not found it easy to find specialized books translated to English on the stamps of Argentina.
