I think that there is enough dross out there that I do not need to take offense when artists turn postage stamps into art.
Last week's Affordable Art Fair included a few pieces by the UK's Rebecca J Coles ("working with paper & scissors") who - get ready - deep breath - applied her scissors to postage stamps to make little butterflies ... lots & lots & lots of little butterflies.
Hey, maybe I can commission her to find me a bulk lot of GB number cancellations to sort through...BEFORE she cuts them up!
(Spotted a 4-pence with a "26" cancellation on it, in her scrap pile. Kinda surprised that there are 19th century stamps in there. Expected "dross" to be all modern stuff).
Still dragging for C51, C60, C61, and D26 among others - all Caribbean offices. That D26 is apparently quite scarce.
Yes Jules, thanks for asking. The Project is still a going concern. Roy helped set up a website but so far I haven't been able to figure out how to get more stuff on it. I was hoping my daughter would help but between schoolwork, working part time for her University, and having her first serious boyfriend I've been out of luck.
The address is still the same (it escapes me right now, but look under members for "holocaust stamps").
Dave.
