Does anyone know of a good catalog for identifying the many local stamps issued at the end of World War II? Also looking for a catalog of all the local Spanish stamps such as the Carlists. Thanks.

re: Germany Catalog

The obvious answer to this question is of course the Michel Deutschland catalogue. Even the normal catalogue has them listed. When you manage to get hold of the specialized version you need part 2.

I have never been that interested in Spanish stamps but think the Michel lists the Carlists too. Edifil would of course be even better.

re: Germany Catalog

If all you are looking for is a catalog to identify, and not value, the local German stamps, then you can usually find an older edition one-volume of the Michel German Specialized at a greatly reduced price. Mine is from 1995. I don't know when Michel split the catalog into multiple parts.

Regarding Spanish locals, it's like Jan says, Edifil will cover almost everything. Again, if just for ID purposes, an older edition will save you money. Michel lists more of these than Scott does, but Scott does list quite a few as well.

re: Germany Catalog

It must be noted that in the mid-1990s the listings for the provisional stamps underwent substantial revisions. AFAIK, some issues were even stuck off the list, others are now considered as doubtful or as private issues, and for some a proper valuation or certification is not possible, as some tools that were used for their production are still in private hands. Best get a post-2000 catalog.
