With Hurricane Florence expected to have a major impact on North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and the surrounding states, please remember that buyers and sellers who live in the severe weather area are being impacted by this storm.
With mandatory evacuations in place in some areas, buyers and sellers will not be able to ship and pay for a while. Sellers may want to hold off shipping purchases to the affected area as mail service will no doubt be disrupted for a time. If you can, please let your buyers and/or sellers know if you are in the path of the storm so that they know.
As with any major weather event, we must be patient, and hope that everyone will be safe from harm.
Amen ! i went to lunch with the "over the hill gang" from the Y yesterday,one of the fellows has vacation home on the shore in Southern North Carolina. While we were dining he received a phone call from his brother who lives permanently in North Carolina...the brother in N.C. said that he and his neighbors were not leaving..they wanted to be there to prevent what damage they could. Sorry, i can not understand putting your family at risk for a house.
There are always those that will stay. They will have to accept the consequences. Most will be lucky. In some cases it is a fear (real or imagined) about looting. However most inland will see flooding. The area has not fully recovered from last hurricane.
I am sure some think it is a hassle to evacuate since you really have to drive a good distance to find shelter. I have seen a lot of traffic heading north / west since I live near I-85.
If the storm stays on the projected course the major part will now go south of us but if the storm stalls and wanders we could still get a lot of rain. We should see a lot of wind too.

I think I remember that water weighs about 64 pounds per cubic foot.
...and apparently, the waves may be up to 13 feet high.
...with winds pushing it forward at up to 80 mph.
So God bless those who feel they have the abilities of Marvel Super-Heroes to thwart the devastating capacity of Mother Nature. But, at the same time, let's remember the lessons of Darwinism - which may be illustrated dramatically here. I just hope people expressing these views only expose themselves - and not innocent children/family - to their stupid risk-taking.
Meanwhile, I'll be safely sitting way up North, in the mild rain we will get from this storm, and keeping a good thought out for the lives (somewhat more important than their property I think) of those on the coastal USA .
I was watching the local coverage and they interviewed another guy who said the same thing - be available to match emergency repairs. Another one said he wanted to be there to help others. I see it more as bragging rights....sitting in a shelter for 2 days minimum is not exciting plus you may not be able to get back due to roads and bridges are closed. It usually takes days for power to be restored on the barrier islands.
My daughter lives in North Carolina. She is about 2 hours inland from the coast. She told me today that they are expecting around 10 inches of rain. They are about an hour north of Charlotte.
Here in north central NC, it has been blustery with a little rain. When it moves a little further west, we would expect more rain (4 to 10 inches over the next few days). When I got up and picked up the paper, it was in the street due to wind gusts.
I hope everyone weathered the storm without major mishap!
I was just watching the looters on TV! It's inevitable!
One of our friends who stayed in place is now asking on Facebook how to siphon gas from his Toyota Highlander for his generator. A couple days ago he was concerned that he had enough beer and goodies... guess he forgot about gas!
Then again, I was heavily influenced by Firesign Theater, who were heavily influenced by the Goon Show (and I might have been somewhat under the influence myself at the time - at least once or twice a hundred times).
