I can understand how to use the search function in the Approvals area, but I rarely come up with anything.
My concern is that the areas that I'm interested in might actually be available in the Approvals section.
For instance, stamps on the topic of "Folklore". Searching under the approvals area yields nothing. Is it safe to say that there is nothing there? Maybe/maybe not.
Or am I better to pursue the search in a different manner?
I index every book but I don't do the topical part unless it is an entire book of that topical, like Olympics or the huge unsuccessful Europa books. I know the discussion of "to use Scott #'s or not" has been beaten to within an inch of its life. Every seller is different.

Searching for items by topic within an approval book is not possible. The best way to search for topicals is to go to the APPROVALS page. On the BOOK CATEGORIES page scroll down to TOPICALS. Click on that and see if anyone posted any topical-oriented approval books for a topic you may be interested in. There aren't many topical approval books as most people post approval books by country and not topic.
That's true, but it relies on the sellers to create explicit titles for their books, and you know how many do not do that. That's why I didn't include that option in my earlier reply.
