Hi all,

There seems to be two general shapes/sizes of commemorative stamps that I am noticing in my US collection.

One is more square in nature and one is longer horizontally.

Is there a name for these different size/shapes, or are they all just commemoratives collectively (pun intended)?

Thanks!

JR

re: Commemoratives - A question.

During certain periods of time commemorative were almost always the same size, but there really are no size categories for US commemoratives. In the 1960's some commemorative stamps were absolutely gigantic. The Indian Cent stamp of the 1980's was smaller than any definitive stamp issued. The post office did not follow any rules over time about size.

Hi Smauggie,

Okay, yep, I was starting to suspect as much!

Thanks!
