I collect Netherlands and Area and found an old folder with an old Dutch Indies collection including some cancellation studies in one of my sort boxes unopened since the 80's.I had forgotten about it.

It fits in nicely with my collection of numeral cancels from Holland

Is there any reference guide as to values on these or is it identify and look up the contemporary population at time of cancellation to get an idea of scarcity?

Webpaper,
Unfortunately, I cannot help with any resources for a rarity factor but thank you for the post, love the straight line cancel collection! This is an area (Dutch Indies) that I also collect.

Phil - thank you for jogging my memory - yes I do have a copy. I just found it in yet another storage box. The numeral cancel cross reference in the back will be useful in identifying place names.

Don - thank you for the kind words. Slowly starting to realize that I should be uncovering the unique things that have been packed away so long rather than spending all my time listing the thousands I have on 102 (identified and unidentified) which are "clutter" and creating confusion - I need a better plan...

re: Dutch Indies Straight Line Cancels

This type of cancels is called "langstempels" or "naamstempels" in Dutch. There is no reference to them in the gwneral nvph catalogue, but there are several specialized catalogues that are purely dedicated to this subject. For instance the "NVPH Poststempelcatalogus Nederlands-Indiƫ".

Another catalogue for these cancels is: Nederlands-Indie Langstempels 1864-1950, by P.R. Bulterman. I have a 2010 edition.
