I'm a 63 model male from the wet side of Norway (western part) I have just rediscovered the joy and fun related to stamp collecting after 10 year's absence. Now I have time for it as the kid's has moved out.
I found this site trough the stampcollecting blog. It looks promising. I collect mainly European area, but will collect more countries as soon as I get more control over what I already have.
I'm in for a trade, what I want and what I have for trade can be seen at colnect.com (link in my profile) But right now I have a break in trading due to spring and a lot to do in the garden. (did I say I have time for stamps above???)
I don't specialize in any area, but love to read and learn what other have to say and tell.
I plan to visit Oslo in a couple of months. The forecast is mostly bright with limited darkness around celestial midnight!
Looking forward to waffles and salmon (not at the same time).
Proud owner of three Norsk Elghunden. One was named Lars, which is also a nickname I got working with some rather colorful military types on a project in the 1980's. Hence the name, Larsdog.
I'm sure you will recognize the breed in my icon.
Cheers!

"@larsdog Yes I know the "Elghund" breed. I actually owned one myself 20 year's ago. Nice good dogs.
Is also on a Norwegian stamp from 1983. ( I don't have a Scott catalogue #??)"
I looked it up in the Scott catalog and found something interesting. The Scott catalog lists 3 dog stamps:
#816 2k Farm dog
#817 2.50k Elk hound
#818 3.50k Hunting dog
The image above those three listings is clearly Norsk Elghund with a 2k denomination. You show a 2.50k denomination with Norsk Elghund. We both know Norsk Elghund is a hunting dog as well, so are all 3 stamps Norsk Elghund? Interesting!
Why Scott lists #817 as "Elk hound" is beyond me. "Elkhound" is bad enough. They don't hunt Elk, they hunt Moose (Elg). And while they are a Hund (dog), they are definitely NOT a hound. The anglicized version really SHOULD be Norwegian MooseDog.
Cheers!

The first dog in that series is Norsk Buhund. 2kr denomination 200
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_Buhund
The second is Norsk Elghund GrĂ¥. 2,50kr denomination 250
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_Elkhound ( for some reason they call it Elkhound?)
But it is not only used to hunt Moose, also other other large game.
The third is Norsk Lundehund. 3,50kr denomination 350
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_Lundehund
This is a very specialized dog. worth read about.
This discussion could develop to a long tread, the accuracy of different catalogs and do we have the power to change them where they are wrong!?
