I just had a question about stamp usage on this FDC.
The stamp (yellow oval) appears to not really be a stamp at all as it is part of a "decal" (red square area) on the front of the envelope.
I have a very limited amount of FDC's at the moment (although I have recently purchased quite a few), so I am unsure if this is common.
Question: Is this kind of stamp common on an FDC?
Thanks everyone for answering my newbie (and sometimes nitpicky?) questions!
Johnny
***Addendum*** I may have answered my own question. The "square" area may be a souvenir sheet that can/could be purchased separately. It looks like this sheet was then affixed to the FDC. In fact it seems fairly obvious now that I see it, as the FDC actually says "5 cent Souvenir Sheet" on it. Okay, maybe I have answered my own question. Thanks!
Thank you for your example. I think I like that one more than mine!
Thank you for validating my "theories"!
@Don (51Studebaker),
Thank you for your expertise always!
@AMSD,
Thank you! I'm always afraid that I'll "bother" people with my little, ancillary questions. I REALLY appreciate your feedback!
I really think I like collecting covers. For me there is a story behind everyone, and a lot of time people's lives or historic events. To me it's a big treasure hunt.
@All of you,
Thanks to all for your support and GREAT encouragement! I'm really enjoying this group! You all are my "stamp club"!
Johnny
