My Scott Specialized US catalogue points to 10 (Type I) - If I am using it correctly (a big IF in some cases).
10A (Type II) would have two outer frame lines.
Definitely a 10. The plate quality is immaculate, and you can even see the lines in the field around Washington's portrait (something that is next to impossible to see on an 11).

re: Is this a 10 ?
Sorry but I have to disagree Smauggie. I do not see a number 10. The biggest identifiers are the color and line definition. It is possibly the most commonly misidentified U.S.
stamp. The majority of stamps offered without certification are probably No.11.
No. 10 is supposed to be Orange Brown which this stamp is not and is the key factor in identifying No.10. No.10 was printed with fresh plates which produced clear proof like impressions up until close to the end of the run which was not all that long. No.11 used the same plates as 10 but the plates had started to wear and the impressions began to ddecline. Even though the button is quite clear the lines in the face and hair are fairly weak with the sideburn completely missing. I would say that it is probably an early No.11. If you are tempted to put it in your collection you should at least put a question mark by it. I would not even think about selling it as a No.10 !!!
You might want to send it in for certification but you'd be wasting your time.

re: Is this a 10 ?
Tooler, There are a seemingly an endless number of shades for No.11, but the color of N0.10 is quite striking in comparison to any of the N0.11's. I think of it as more a Burnt Orange. All of yours are more Orange than Pedroguys, especially the bottom one which is closest to the color of a No.10. However, more importantly in this case is the lack of line definition, which is very weak and appear quite blurred. The Toga rope and button should be very clear as well as the hair and face lines which would exclude the stamp from being a number 10. If you scanned this at anything less than 300dpi it may not be high enough to see the lines clearly. I have studied this stamp a great deal over the years, so I'm not shooting from the hip here. From what I see all of your stamps are No.11.
In my opinion No.10 is far scarcer than the catalog values reflect.

re: Is this a 10 ?
I really don't call myself an expert. I have been a US collector for a long time and have always found the early stamps confusing. I think I have a #10 (no working camera at the moment) but it definitely tends more toward the brown than the red. It is the colour of the first stamp in CF1957's post of 04 Apr 2018. I just joined Stamporama a week ago and occasionally spend an hour or so going through old posts. If you are a new member you should really do this!
