I was inspired after seeing Phil's nice wood veneer Gabon booklet, so I dug this cover out of my postal history collection to share with the club. The envelope is made out of a thin wood veneer that that was roughly opened at the top. It was mailed December 5, 1910 from Lihue, Kauai, Hawaiian Islands to Lake Mills, Wisconsin. There is no return address, it just says "Please open at top" on the reverse side with a Lake Mills receiving cancellation. This is the oldest cover I have from Hawaii, and I bought it at a stamp show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA from a bulk cover dealer. He had around 100 boxes of disorganized covers to dig through and I spent hours there to find this one. As Phil asks, "who knows why we buy what we do," my answer is "that's just what we do, Phil, this is us."

That's a lovely little artwork of a sailboat.

Yes, that hand drawn watercolor sailboat is absolutely precious!
I've never seen that Kauai killer, either.

VERY nice item, Linus!
