Of course there are much larger issues but this issue from Venezuela is one of the largest. After over 30 year I finally pieced it together so that it is now complete. Since I never bought more than two complete sets it seemed to take for ever. They were printed from 1951-1952 in both regular and air mail issues with 24 sets each and totaling 338 stamps. The stamps depict the coats of arms of each state. I'm going to show a few pages a day until they are complete and the issue can be viewed in it's entirety.

re: Long sets/issues
Well done Mitch. I am still struggling with it, one stamp at a time.
The Turkey 1958-1962 views of the cities is another one that seems to go on and on and on, but is less complicated (less difficult to fill than the Venezuela).
I find the Mexico Exporta series a real challenge, even before you get to the paper, size ,fluo coating, and perf variations (and whatever else they will add to complicate our lives!)

re: Long sets/issues
Ralph, I think there are less than half as many of the Turkish issue as there are the Venezuelan. My Turkey album stops at that issue as I have not mounted and scanned them yet. I'm pretty sure I have two complete sets of them. I won't know until I mount them the reason I stopped there is I could not decide if I wanted to use that many mounts to mount them. They'd look really nice in mounts but they are nearly all of minimum cat and I don't know if I can rationalize using mounts.
As far as the Exporta issues go, I'm not really sure where they end or where I want to end my pages for Mexico. Mexico could well be the hardest country to collect and I don't think I need to make it any harder by extending it beyond 1980 or so.
Mitchell, thanks very much for starting this thread and showing these longer sets. I really enjoy them.
(A while back, after you'd finished up showing BOB material, I had suggested your showing some definitives where you had some completion. These longer sets were especially what I had in mind, so I really appreciate the effort it takes to complete them and then prep them to show on here. Thanks very much!!)

Ryan, I prefer mint but will take used if it comes along first. My second choice are S.O.N's. The mint set you saw was probably one of the sets I got in tack. I also do not care for mixed sets so will update them when possible.
Dave, Yes I did have you in mind when posting them. I'm thinking of what ever long sets I might post next.

re: Long sets/issues
Thanks guys, it really was a long haul piecing then together and a thrill to finally complete them.
It can be hard for to separate issues and sets. The one shown I'd say was an issue made up of 56 sets. There are not many issues of this size. The Machins must be the largest. My dad is still working on them and has a high percentage of them. Finding sets or even issues over 60 stamps are probably pretty scarce but I will look for some and put them up on the board.

re: Long sets/issues
Another long set or issue is the Ceres stamps of Portugal. First issued in1912 they had a long run up to 1931. They were issued with a few variances like imprint at bottom or not and with surcharges or overprints. Until recently there were 161 listed by Scott but Scott has added many more numbers reflecting the different papers, perfs and color variants used. I had just completed the issues before Scott made the change and have not made new pages for the additional stamps. Also Portugal issued the Ceres issues for it's colonies either by overprinting the colonies name to the Portuguese stamps or inscribing it on new stamps printed for the specific colony. The 2 stamps missing from the surcharged set are 2 of 3 stamps that I need to complete Portugal. I consider that a considerable achievement as Portugal is one of the more difficult countries to complete.
One of the stamps only catalogs for 80 cents, which shows you that it is not always the most expensive stamps that are the hardest to obtain.
Below are shown all of the Portuguese issues by the old Scott numbering system.
