I use a 1960 WW Scott so it might be printed in one of the newer catalogues. I've noticed a number of stamps issued but not listed in the old catalogue but added in updated ones.

It is from the Northeast Liberation Area under the People's Republic of China.

I can't tell from the image whether it is an original or reprint, but it is Scott #1L162. the stamp was issued without gum. Rough perforations are normal for the stamp.

Look at the horizontal bar between the two leftmost characters at the upper left of the stamp. It is an original if there are 3 lines below the horizontal bar. It is a reprint if there are 4 lines.

2017 Scott Catalog value for unused: Original = $45.00; Reprint = $2.50

re: Asian stamp ID - China

I don't speak/read Chinese, so I don't know what the stamp is about;

however, I do find it interesting that it reminded me of the U.S. commemorative issue #947 which has a very similar image content -

Image Not Found

China - trucks, trains, boats, planes

USA - horse, trains, boats, planes

Both appear to be about transportation - the US stamp of course about forms of
mail delivery through the years.

Anyone know what the China stamp is honoring/commemorating?
And is the central image on the China stamp possibly a mailbox?

Thanks, Michael - I overlooked that!

So it would appear that it IS a mailbox from China.
