From a few hundred miles to the north to several thousands miles around the world, but you still managed to get the letter and a nice cover indeed. "Uni" BTW means United not United Kingdom.
Happy and Prosperous stamp filled 2018 for all the members!
The Scottish cover Sheepshanks links to above bears no confusable "Royaume" or anything else, was sent from a different part of the world - yet it has the same "Missent to Thailand" legend and was posted within a week of mine above. Very odd. Any more of these and I'll be tempted to start a virtual collection!
I probably have this cover somewhere...
Back in the days when mortgages were all done by hand and paperwork needed to be transported, I had an envelope with my mortgage commitment go astray. These were also times where I had a commitment on a lower rate that was set to expire, so I concluded that the mortgage company was playing games to make me miss the deadline.
Envelope needed to travel about 10 miles within New Jersey... instead it was missing for weeks, by way of Puerto Rico.
In the meantime I pressured mortgage company to redraw the paperwork with threats that I knew they were stalling, and my next stop was to file complaint with the state banking commission. So actually went to their offices and hand carried the papers to my attorney for closing.
And I felt slightly guilty for yelling at them when the package finally showed up.
