I obtained this stamp a while back and I am looking for any additional information you may have.

re: Strange overprint on hitler head Possible fantasy/fake?

The words refer to Hitler as "Germany's corrupter", and feature on some of the many overprinted local stamps of 1945 (notably those from Meissen).

The image does not appear in Herbert Friedman's Propaganda and Espionage Philately, an exhaustive study of stamps and other documents available on the internet at

https://www.psywar.org/stamps.php and
https://www.psywar.org/stamps2.php

...and so, given the crudity of the overprint, I'd guess this was some form of private indulgence rather than a widely disseminated piece of 'revenge propaganda'. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who can throw further light on this one.

I could be wrong but...

I don't ever remember seeing this Hitler head overprint in the 1970s-2000s and have only recently spotted this overprint on eBay. The first time I saw it on eBay over the last several years was when a seller in Greece began flooding eBay with this and other overprints--all of them suspicious.

I have only dabbled in collecting some of these overprints, but it is becoming apparent that there are many fakes out there. Most obvious is when there is a date in the overprint that is AFTER the date shown in the stamp's cancellation!
