One of the more popular sets from Austria is this 1948-52 set. I've think I've had it used since I was a kid but never all mint. The other day I got a lot that had most of the mint stamps I was missing. Still missing 5 mint but I think it makes a nice showing.
Always did like this issue, remember it from schoolboy days, believe there was another thread that mentioned some were hard to find.
Thanks for posting.
I am used, hinged multiple times, OG but not teeth. 22 Dec 2017 08:00:54am
re: Austria Native Costume set
Absolutely stunning. A very handsome set. I have all but 2, all with WIEN postmarks. Starting an Innsbruck canceled set then on to Salzburg. Thank-you for posting this lovely set.
I think one of the nice things about your posts is that they focus on the "collection" aspect - and completing related sets - moreso than the "financial value".
I think most of these stamps have limited CVs, but this issue is a great example of attractive stamps that provide an insight on an aspect of Austria's culture and their representation at that time in history.
I haven't looked at my own paltry collection (but will do so now) - but vaguely recall - are there some perf/watermark variations?
Cheers, Dave.
