I have just added a new option in the Approvals main navigation menu at the top of the screen called "Closing Soon". This screen shows Books that have had no sales for 60 days and will be closed in 15 days if there are no further sales.
Here is the background to my question to you all. I implemented this new screen and went into it to check that all was working as it should and saw a book with New Zealand stamps that I hadn't seen, went in and purchased several. So, the concept of showing the Closing Soon Books definitely worked on me. But, with my purchase from this book, the book was immediately taken out of the Closing Soon list, because there had been a sale. Which is the whole premise of closing if there has been no sales in 60 days, right?
So I'm posing this question to you all because it is just procedural and involves no policy decisions which would normally be taken to the Management Team. Which of the following two options would you prefer:
1. If a sale is made from a book that is listed in the Closing Soon screen, that book is taken out of the Closing Soon screen because there has been a sale and the book will be active until there is no further sales for 60 days, at which time the seller will be emailed again (this is how it is working at the moment);
2. Once a books reaches 60 days without sales it will be visible in the Closing Soon screen. If a sale is made because it is in the Closing Soon screen, or for any other reason, it will not affect the book. It will remain in the Closing Soon screen and in 15 days of being eligible for the Closing Soon screen, it will be closed.
I'm not looking for any discussion on the closing process as such. I have to clean the old books up. Please respond on this thread with your preference for option 1 or option 2. I'll leave it open to 6:00pm Sunday December 3rd 2017 (EST), at which time I'll close this thread and will make whatever changes are necessary to implement option 1 or option 2 according to the votes recorded on this thread.
Not sure I care which option happens now because to keep myself organized - I just will start taking down books after they reach the 2 month mark. I had been waiting 4 months - then run a final discount sale on the books for a short period before taking them down. Now I will just take down books after 2 months and probably will stop running sales on them. It's some of my regular buyers loss I guess. I will also stop putting up large books because it is not worth the effort to put a 24 page book together when it has a short shelf life. I always agreed one year is too long or if a book was almost sold out I would retire it early sometimes within the first week. Steve
On October 20, Michael posted that all books under Number 7570 must be closed by November 1. I notice in the new "Closing Soon" section that there are several books under this number.
Thank you everyone who participated in this decision to determine the procedure used in cleaning up old Approval Books. Option 1 received 8 votes and Option 2 received 13 votes. I'll proceed with implementing Option 2.
