Poland issued 6 stamps for the 5th World Festival of Youth - Scott 687-692.
My 2015 catalog simply says: "Exist imperf." but I have seen a few listed with an A suffix, such as 690A for the imperf of 690. Does anyone know if Scott officially assigned major catalog numbers to the imperfs after 2015, or is that an unofficial designation some sellers use. I've seen it in more than one place.

Lars, I'm looking at only a slightly newer edition of Scott than you, 2017, but the stamps are just cited in the footnote, and not given an "a" designation. (And valued at $4.50 mint and $3.50 used.)

I run into this from time to time with Japanese stamps. Technically, the New Year's souvenir sheets are just noted (and usually priced), rather than given a suffix, but I often see dealers (both in person and online) give them an "A" or "a".

So I think it's just an informal, unofficial practice that's reasonably common.

Thanks! I'm about to create the album page for them and would use the "A" suffix if it was now official, but I suppose I will just add "var" after the catalog number. I appreciate you checking a newer catalog.

Cheers!
