Believe the following are labels, but not sure. Translation in Spanish is: Swiss Trade Fair Basel. Researched Swiss Trade Fair and found pictures of 2 of the stamps, but they were depicted as posters. What do I have?
Basilea Pharmaceutica is a multinational specialty biopharmaceutical company
headquartered in Basel, Switzerland.
I can see the Swiss flag, thus the connection with above. However, the stamps? were in a packet of Brazil stamps and the inscription translates in Spanish and Portuguese.
I was not sure which language. It translated in Portuguese to "Basel Swiss Exhibition Fair". If not mistaken believe Portuguese is the official language of Brazil. That is the only reason I thought it may be Brazil orgin.
You're correct, nor portuguese or Swiss flag are seen anywhere on the labels, a winged hat with a white cross in it is not the flag of Switzerland, what's really confusing is why labels for a fair in Basel are in spanish when german should be the norm, could they have been made for an outlet in Spain?
This article shows the red and white symbol as the old symbol of the trade fair.
There are many images on the Internet of different poster stamps (and also posters) that have this symbol. Many are in German with titles such as "Schweizer Mustermesse Basel" and/or "muba".
