Hi Everyone;
I'm also a big Fats Domino fan, and also a big fan of his mentor Fats Waller. At least I assume that he was his mentor, based on the fact that they both had so much in common.
Fats Waller was a portly black piano player and singer. His style was mostly R&B & Jazz, and he was only a generation older than Fats Domino. The RCA "Bluebird" series of classic musical hits and big bands did an album on his music.
The original theme music for the "This Old House" was a solo clarinet piece. Many years later I listened to his album, and heard the song "Louisiana Fairy Tale", which also has lyrics, that are not in the This Old House piece.
Oooops! I just read the Wikipedia article on Fats Domino (great read tho), and apparently there was no professional connection. Perhaps Fats Domino was just a big fan of Fats Waller.
Just sortin'....
