Hello! How cautious should I be when approaching PRC stamps, especially those of Chairman Mao?

Since the prices of such stamps are quite high in the market, and as such, often a target of forgery, I tend to be quite wary of buying them for the collection.

Any advice on differentiating forgeries of this era?

Lucy

re: PRC Stamps

You should be very cautious, and from my understanding it can be very difficult to tell the difference between the genuine and the forgeries.

Agreed, very cautious when dealing with expensive PRC stamps, and less expensive are even more likely to be forged or reprints.
The worst thing is, I am not sure how you can proceed without being an expert yourself.
Sorry
