Today I'm changing the page of the day to World Wide Airmail stamps.
I'll be randomly choosing a different country each day (or so) and showing the first few pages of airmail stamps from that country
I'm starting off with a country that most are probably not that familiar with but has some of my favorite airmail stamps including four of the prettiest Zepp stamps ever produced.
The country for today is Liechtenstein.
Shown are all of the airmails issued by Liechtenstein.
Mitch, your comment about Liechtenstein possibly being unfamiliar to most collectors surprises me. Given the quality of many of their stamps, I would think they'd be familiar and widely collected.
I've got to agree with your opinion re those four Zepps. Although my collecting focus was colonial Africa and colonial Caribbean, my eclectic nature led me to buy those four stamps and a few other mint Liechtenstein stamps from that era. I never collected the country. I never collected Europe. I never collected airmails specifically, but I created a place for a handful of Liechtenstein stamps anyway. Never let it be said I didn't stray from my collecting focus from time to time!

re: A-Ra's Page of the Day (AIRMAILS) Part I
For today the first country to officially issue an Airmail Stamp in 1917: Italy.
The first item shown is the first airmail stamp on a first day first flight card.
The first four pages are shown afterwards and are some of my favorites.

Uruguay is the airmail showing for today. From the first bi-plane overprints to the Albatross and two Pegasus long sets Uruguay is one of the most collectible countries for airmails. Note the three stamps at the bottom of the first page were sold and for use on one day only.

The airmails for today are from Latvia. I doubt anyone could argue that they are not some of the most interesting and attractive stamps of their kind.
Shown are the first page and pages 3-5.

Yesterday I received a couple sets from a "country" that I had not yet put up on my website.
After adding those stamps it appeared that that collection was now good enough to put on my site. At any rate that collection is of Italian Colonies. AS it has some very nice airmails I though it would be a ice showing for today.
Shown are the only three pages of airmail stamps issued.

re: A-Ra's Page of the Day (AIRMAILS) Part I
I received several lots today, one of them being Airmails from Dutch Indies. Before now I had only had about half of them so did not even have them up on my site. At any rate the lot had all of them and I've updated my site to show them. So, it wasn't a hard choice to make for the page of the day.

The airmails of Monaco are the showing for today. It seems rather odd that they issue airmail stamps but do not have an airport.
Shown are the first four pages of airmails
Not knowing the Monaco postal service, could it be possible that air mail was delivered to the French postal service whereupon it was placed on a plane for air mail service? I would think that all of the outbound mail from Monaco would be delivered to France for processing, right?

Mike, I really don't know but France would seem to be the obvious point of departure by air but I would not doubt that Italy might also have been used at one time or another.

Phil, Yes, like the Condors which I really like also they have an Art Nouveau flavor to them.
The Airmail showings for today come from Spain.
Shown are the 1st,2nd and 4th page from my collection, the first of which is one of my favorite airmail pages from anywhere.

Some of the prettiest airmail stamps are from Guatemala.
I'm showing the first five pages as to include all the scenic bi-color Quetzal and plane overprint issues.
