This is a T & T cover on Ebay. It's attractive and affordable but I have doubts about its authenticity.
Mainly I am concerned about the cancel not cleanly tying the stamps to the cover. It looks to me that someone took a used pair and attached them to a stampless cover. There is what looks to be continuation of the cancel onto the envelope at the top of the pair but just barely and I suspect my have been inked in at some time.
Two Mi6 on cover would sell well north of $100 so the price is an issue.
The other problem is that unless this is a really bad color scan, the Mi 6 is deep yellow & black.
Also the Mi6 was issued in 1852 & the postmark is 1861 - seems unusual
The picture is not clear enough to note the forgery traits.Fournier forgeries approximate the color and general traits of this offer
The town # of which there are 424 is unfortunately not legible as a forgery would easily be determined.
Can anyone please explain to me the route taken by this cover?
I'm guessing from the transit marks that it has travelled via Weimar in Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach and Oldenburg to Jever in Oldenburg.
For all I know it could have taken the opposite direction although I would have guessed it would then have had Oldenburg stamps rather than Thurn und Taxis ones.
I can't make out the address at all. Help please!
