I just received a set of supplements for my Battle Green Bermuda album. It included 4 new pages for the 1962-1965 "Bermuda Architecture" series, 18 A-D. It shows numerous spaces for each denomination, like 3 spaces for 2 pence upright watermark. My catalog does not show any varieties. Are these color varieties? Thanks.
SG also lists three other varieties on this value:
Their list is:
SG 164 - lilac, indigo, yellow and green
SG 164a - lilac omitted
SG 164b - green omitted
SG 164c - imperf (pair)
SG 164d - pale lilac, indigo, yellow and green
SG 164w - watermark inverted
The two missing colours and the imperf are all high prices (£1000+), the inverted watermark is £300 used & unpriced mint in 2013 but the "Pale lilac,..." shade is much more reasonable at £5.00 (M) £3.00 (U).
Thank you both. Nigel, which Stanley Gibbons is that from? I just purchased the second edition of the Commonwealth that includes Bermuda, but it has not arrived yet.
I took these from the 2013 edition of SG Commonwealth & British Empire 1840-1970, the catalogue that is often still informally called "SG Part 1".
I see Bermuda is listed in SG Northern Caribbean, Bahamas & Bermuda, I don't have that but I would expect it to have exactly the same listing as Part 1 for the period up to 1970 as well as the more modern issues.
SG notes that only three copies of the green omitted stamp are known and all are on piece.
SG lists the sideways watermark that Michael has mentioned as SG 195.
