My wife and I have just returned from a cruise round New Zealand ,it's a beautiful place .I think a fly drive holiday would be much better as a day in port is not really enough time to explore. Here are a few of the photo's we took.
That wood carving is beautiful... do you know if it is inspired by indigenous peoples? The one structure kind of looks like Seattle's space needle. Would love to go to new Zealand. The picture of the sound looks like it might be from that area where they filmed all those amazing shots in the Hobbitt movies. Glad you and your wife had such a nice trip. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
I have been to New Zealand as well, beautiful country. Most of the places you showed I have been to as well, except Auckland. I arrived in Christchurch and left from Wellington. No time to see the North part of the North Island, Napier-Hastings is as northerly as I have been. The South Island was magnificent though, kayaking in the Milford Sound, Moeraki boulders, Dunedin, we even squatted in a deserted hostel in the ghost town Waiuta.
If possible, I'd go back and show my wife and children what a beautiful place NZ is.

Yes they are ,Here is a couple more the first is on the top of Mount Victoria in Wellington and the other was in a park in Napier.
I was headed to New Zealand, but I did not win the $400 million PowerBall drawing this week! But I was packed!
Very nice photos, I'd love to spend a month there. I get your comment that it's tough to see from a cruise. When we were in St Thomas, we were sitting at the highest point on the island sipping tall drinks (of course there is a bar there!) when one of the Tourist open air taxi trucks pulled up and a dozen people got out quickly, snapped a bunch of photos and jumped back in the truck. One of the people saw us sitting there and asked which ship we were from, and we said None! We were there for the week. He looked envious. We finished our drinks at our leisure, got into our rented Jeep and continued our relaxed crawl around the island!
My number one bucket list item is to spend a month wandering around Australia! Maybe get some postmarks along the way!
