"Jings! Crivvens! Help Ma Boab!"

Thus spake a man who slagged The Status Quo. Time to upgrade the 8-Track Ian!

But this got me thinking ... when I played a school sock hop in 1968 (12 years old) with my band Pavilion of Time we may have had their hit Pictures of Matchstick Men in our set-list (one of the few songs like Crimson and Clover where we could use the full-on tremolo).

Not sure if that's what I was singing in this photo though, it could have been Venus by Shocking Blue (shout-out to our Dutch members!)

A little trivia: my friend Rikki (guitarist on the left) became a senior RCMP Officer. At a murder trial he ran into Jonny (our drummer hidden behind me) who became a senior member of a certain well-known outlaw motorcycle club. Not sure which side of the courtroom was more shocked when they hugged it out!

Why don't we take a break from arguing about adding more rules to our lives/fun/hobby, and post some pictures of those good old days when we were little rock'n'rollers just breaking them (and really didn't care about the "other" status quo). Add a little piece of trivia for good measure.

Cheers, Dave.

P.S. Ian? A snapshot of you as a public school boy in those short pants looking like Angus Young (AC-DC) mayhaps?

Wish I had pictures of me in the bands I played in. We too did Pictures Of Matchstick Men, as well as Crimson & Clover. I played bass. Somewhere my bass got lost along the way. Wish I still had it. An early 60's white Fender bass.

Dave you are a stud. Theresa started a similar thread some time ago. We all posted some pretty cool pictures. Maybe some one can find and refresh it.

I think the recent take on Pictures of Matchstick Men by Status Quo on the Aquostic set is a very good variation.

re: When We Were Young & Innocent...

Dave:-

Thankfully all photos of me in short pants have been destroyed, so I cannot be open to blackmail. Yes I had to wear short pants up to and including year 7.

I did go to a good school.
I went to Eton.
How long was I there for?
Five minutes.
What was I doing there?
I was delivering the groceries.
Was I a greengrocer?
Not quite green more of a dirty yellow colour.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity of writing the above which comes from The Goon Show, a 1950's radio programme.
I've waited decades to use that!!

Musically I have never been interested in playing but currently listening to The Electric Light Orchestra (ELO).
