Well, at least I got to have a haircut in the Penny Lane barber shop.

Image Not FoundImage Not FoundDoes this one look familiar to anyone? It's light blue with a perf 14, measuring about 22 x 27 mm. The heavy cancellation and the fact that I can't tell which side is up make it tricky. The two smaller crops have false color to bring out the contrast.Image Not Found Thank you!

This is from Bahrain, I believe....

....war tax stamp.

Scott #MR2 (I think)

Maybe someone else can verify this.

Stamp from Bahrain (Persian Gulf) you have it display correctly. The cat. list only one color, light blue (Sc# MR2). I have two copies, one light blue and another one blue-green

SG lists two versions:

SG T194 - 5 fils - new blue - perf 14½ - 1 Dec 1973

SG T194a - 5 fils - pale greenish blue - perf 14½ x 13½ - 10 Apr 1988

SG T194 comes in different shades and the paper varies.

Thank you, everybody. It's right there in my Scott catalog and I even scanned it right-side up! The "war tax" was instituted at the time of the Arab-Israeli (Yom-Kippur) War of 1973, but most of the money went to help settle Palestinian refugees, rather than for military purposes.
