Having just started a collection of QE11 pre decimal I have met my first road block, the Castles how to tell the difference between Waterlow and Del la Rue.
Hi Rich, if I recall you have an SG Concise, if you go to the page there are notes below the listing. The 5th, 6th and 7th paragraphs explain the visible differences.

Ningpo, That's a nice set of images, will have to print that one off for reference.
Much easier though to see the differences on mint stamps, the hard ones are the used, washed and generally three times around the block heavy cancellations. Though sometimes the dates can help.
As you say a nightmare to identify at times.
Great help in deciding which is which the pictures are very fine and thank you for the time spent to answer the question. It always amazes me someone out there has the solution
