Sorry for the bad pic, the way this cover's mounted won't allow for scanning.
StampWorld doesn't list one or the other of these sets, I'm not sure which one. Can someone tell me if they have separate catalog numbers and are they valued the same?
2016 Scott has the used (CTO) price for the smaller singles as 25¢, 30¢, 50¢, and 90¢. This is one of the few instances in Scott where the CTO price is actually slightly higher than the mint price!
The used (CTO) price for the larger stamps varies from slightly lower/higher, but the price for the intact block is slight higher at $2.25.
As a general rule, you might also try the Colnect online catalogue, which in this case offers these three numbers: Mi: DD 3241II-3244II, Sn: DD 2744, Yt: DD 2850-2853.
Where these online catalogues do not give the number I want (in my case, Gibbons, in yours presumably Scott) I usually try British all-world dealers' websites; they will often state the catalogue number I need. Similar websites in the US will perhaps help with Scott numbers.
Technically these were not CTO, but were postally used, although for philatelic purpose. Not being tied to the cover, gives them the appearance of having been CTO'd, but they were in fact, sent through the mail system.
I find that interesting, that a major catalog gives more recognition to a CTO then they do a postally used stamp. Somehow that tells a bigger story then I had ever imagined.
I've closely checked out most of these covers and quite a lot of them do have cancel "bleed" through the perforations, which I guess, does technically tie them to the cover. Minute in many cases, but it's there just the same.
Thanks again for the help,
WB
