I found this lot on an auction site with just the description "soldier stamps". I had not seen anything like this before.
Who knows what they are?
Are there catalogues that have listings for these "stamps"?

The American Helvetia Society - Swiss stamp collecting club - has a book on Swiss stamps that has an entire chapter on the soldier stamps. Try their website.

All (male) Swiss citizens after completing their National Service are permanently in the reserve forces until the age of 60ish- and have to do reserve training every year.

Every tourist to Switzerland will have seen posters in the towns indicating the details of reserve training for the units of the Swiss forces in the region.

It used to be said that Switzerland could mobilise it's entire army in 48 hours. Truly a "citizen army".

I worked at one time with a Swiss citizen who was obliged to return to Switzerland every year for his national service, even though living outside the country.
