These stamps all appear to have a Spanish connection or source but I have never found them in my Scott's catalogs. Any information as to their identity or use will be appreciated. Thanks, Big Daddy Dave
Here's a pointer (from Wiki) to the issuing state of the bottom left stamp:
The Sovereign Council of Asturias and León (Spanish: Consejo Soberano de Asturias y León, Asturian: Conseyu Soberanu d'Asturies y Llión), was an unrecognized state in northern Spain during the Spanish Civil War.
Proclaimed on 6 September 1936, it was self-declared sovereign on 24 August 1937, while the region was occupied on 20 October 1937 by Franco's military forces. Belarmino Tomás was the Sovereign Council's first and only President. The capital of the short-lived state was Gijón.
Here are copies of Spain C51 from my collection, reprint on the left, original on the right:
From the Scott catalogue: "Nos. C50-C57 have blurred impressions, yellowish paper. Value: one-tenth of originals."
The Scott 2014 catalogue values the original at .90 for mint, .55 for used.
The reprints were apparently done privately, and largely or only, I suspect, as a scam aimed at collectors. But an interesting scam for all that. I've had some fun with the 1 peseta value, commemorating Charles Lindbergh's flight. See my web page, A Charles Lindbergh Puzzle — What's that darned cat doing there?
