I found this on the Stamp on this sight A 087.2 but the stamps that I have found have one little extra perf. at bottom center .Image Not Found
Could this make it even more rare. from what I have seen on here if it isin the A catagory than its a rare Perfin.

With the extra control dot below it is from the Ft. Worth office of Armour & Co. It is listed in the Catalog of United States Perfins - 1979 as C24F and is an "E" rating. There are 7 different Armour & Co listings - each with the control dot in a different location.

Very few perfins, even those with an "A" rating, command much in the way of money. It is a very small market and most collectors will not pay much of a premium. If found on a cover and not yet positively documented there can be some value in the scarcer ones - again it is not commensurate with it's rarity.

I love a specialty where items can be hard to find, but reasonable in cost once located!

My first interest is my Ben Franklin 1903-08 period. Noting that perfins were authorized in the USA in 1908, I'm pretty much looking for those on my stamp from 1908, and if remains were used later beyond the replacement of this stamp.

I am collecting all different that I find of perfins on this stamp. I especially like them on cover. The one cent stamp was used on unsealed circular rate (aka junk mail) and advertising postcards. I am finding that I can purchase them for $5-20. There are dealers prospecting for gold, asking $50 or more. What would be a reasonable price for these covers or cards?

I saw an E7 with a nice perfin sell for $60+ off cover. Some perfins on less common stamps may garner a higher value.

Wish I could answer your question. I have a bankers box full of perfins, some identified, most not which includes hundreds of covers. All of the stamps and probably 75 per cent of the covers are culls from large bulk lots purchased when I was a dealer. The other 25 per cent of the covers all came from bargain boxes and these include some nice "discovery" or "proof" covers.

I sold a bunch of identified perfins on here and Bidstart at 20 cents apiece for "E" rating and $1.00 apiece for "C" rated (on common stamps). I sold a few covers for $2.50 each ("E" rated). They sold out quickly. Not sure what dealers do now but they used to price perfins as regular used stamps on the higher values.

Hope that helps.
