My boss is from England. He went for a visit a couple weeks ago. I asked for him to get me 2 sets of Pink Floyd. He has 2 sets on order for me. I'm not sure what the set will include, hopefully all the stamps and maybe the SS. Maybe the FDC's? Who knows, but they will be sent to him and then he is going to bring them to me. As a gift! Ain't he great? I figure I'll get my grubby hands on them about mid August.

I do not like the music on 'Dark side of the Moon', but the artwork is great. To me, it is the album where the great misanthrope Roger Waters finally got the upper hand in the band, making its music ponderous and boring. Before that, they were great. I have seen the Live at Pompeii concert movie many times.
On the other hand, without the boring Pink Floyd there may not have been punk rock, so thank you Pink Floyd! :-)

Well like many subjects, liking and disliking is subjective. I love the music..I think the album cover is simplistic. So it got me thinking (and maybe we should start a new thread somewhere else), but there are a few records and musical pieces (by genre) that I find very influential and important to me...and Pink Floyd's Dark side of the Moon is one of them, just like Paul Simon's the Rhythm of the Saints.
In the classical arena, how about Albinoni's Adagio?
And for simplistic Album covers....what about the Beatles White Album!
Incidentally there are 10 distinct stamps in the Pink Floyd British Royal Mail series (not counting sheets, s/s etc)

You need 60's posters, black lights, a nickel bag of good weed, roach clips, and some half stoned friends....and a 200 watt stereo amp with giant speakers. After finishing a couple of joints, then turn on the Dark side.
Make sure there are at least six pizzas in the freezer tho.
Is that anything like a Pink Elephant? I have a friend named Floyd, but he's not Pink, though he has been tickled Pink a couple of times. One time I remember he was checking out some "oversized" derriere on a young lady, that had "Pink" on her britches. He almost died laughing at that one.

That would be the right approach to enjoy "Piper at the Gates of Dawn", "Saucerful Of Secrets" or even "Meddle" - but not Dark Side Of The Moon, which to me is the antithesis of psychedelic / stoner music. Anyway, as said before and completely true: there is no accounting for taste :-)
