Below is a scan of a portion the reverse of a used copy of US Scott #O12, the 3¢ Executive Official stamp. I'm curious as to the instances of stamped lettering. Does anyone recognized them as belonging to particular dealers or expertizers? (The stamp is up for sale currently on ebay at http://www.ebay.com/itm/CKStamps-US-Official-Stamps-Collection-Scott-O12-3c-Used-CV-210-/351756700174?hash=item51e6554a0e:g:9lYAAOSwLnBXXDUq.)
The violet-colored expertizer mark appears to be part of the type for Julius Schlesinger and should read "J.SCHL."
Filatelia notes that his mark is not considered reliable, and is known to have been forged on the back of Hermes head stamps of Greece.
The bend in your mark appears correct, but I'm not sure about the color and clearly part of the "J" is missing -- so authenticity of the mark is still in question.
Ditto BigP's comments! These expert/dealer/owner marks are interesting and it's fun to see new ones and learn more about them from members like Kim and Nigel. The filatelia link that Kim mentioned and Phos45 provided a link to can be a big help when it comes to identifying these marks. Thanks!
