Going through my old Statesman album and found about 90% completion for Indonesia during this time frame. Checking with StampWorld, I found their CV's to be rather high for many of the issues. $5-$25+. Does Scott show this trend and if so, what would be the reasoning behind it? I know I didn't pay anywhere near these prices back in the early to mid-70's.
Some years ago, Indonesia became a "hot" country to collect. That has all died down now. These things run in cycles. A country or two will get hot, and values will skyrocket. Then people move on to other countries, and the values start to fall.
Thanks Michael, I do understand that aspect of CV's and collecting trends. But, during these ebbs and tides, are the values typically effected more for certain time frames within that same country? In this case, there seemed to be a spike in the percentage of higher CV's for stamps issued between ca.'68-'74, while the percentage of higher value stamps seemed to taper off either side of that time frame.
I don't typically pay that much attention to catalog values, so I'm not really up to date in that area. I just noticed this while reorganizing my Indonesia collection and thought it seemed a bit odd. I didn't find anything particularly interesting going on in Indonesia during this period that might have triggered it, so thought I'd ask.
