This may have been discussed previously but- I have issues using the sheet protectors Scott sells. Stamps hinged on the following page (without a protector) always cling and some get pulled off as I turn pages.

I have seen suggestions to wipe the pages with a dryer sheet- that places a fragrance I do not want on the pages and seems like it could be bad for stamp preservation. Ditto with some of the sprays I have seen.

Ideas?

re: Static Issues with Sheet Protecors

I suppose the obvious solution is not to mix two types of page display in one album - all my WW2 pages are in protectors (two sheets back-to-back in one protector), while all my hinged British Commonwealth stamps are on single-sided leaves in an old-fashioned spring-back album.

This is made easier because few if any of my quadrilled heavy-paper leaves are of A4 size, while my sheet protectors hold only A4 pages.

I'm sure someone will come up with a more helpful solution!

re: Static Issues with Sheet Protecors

This issue is occurring in an album I use for my collection of Russia. Way too many pages to put them all in protectors. I hinge mount the cheap stamps, and prefer to enclose pages with sheets and the occasional cover in protective enclosures.

Someone once told me there is a spray you can get at office supply companies for this. I just worry it may damage stamps in comes in contact with.

That is a reasonable worry that you should heed!

I have taken apart so many collections that have suffered badly from "homemade" and untested storage solutions that I do not believe in untested products for collections for the long term.

One of these days I will put together a digital display entitled "This was a BAD idea!", composed of pictures of collections, stamps and covers that have been irretrievably damaged by things the collector did that he thought were "protecting" his collection, but in fact ended up destroying it.
