The collectors estate accumulation I picked up last summer just keeps yielding new surprises. I found this in a U.S. Postal Service P-104 Official Business envelope. Originally I thought it just contained a couple of cardboard stiffeners. When I finally got around to actually looking through it, this flown cover and complete folder set were inside. I've never really collected material like this, but it seems like it might be a good place to start.

re: '83 Flown Shuttle Cover and Folder
Robert- The Postal Service wanted to fly 500,000 covers on the STS-8 mission. 261,900 covers were flown which included 1,001 covers flown in the middeck. Since 500,000 covers were prepared, it was determined after the flight covers with serial numbers above 261900 were flown as the covers were not loaded in order. The USPS decided to compile a list of the serial numbers of the un-flown covers. This list can be found on Collect Space under the resources link. If you have any questions, feel free to email me directly.
