It's just a moment of levity. There's been plenty of talk about the president who co-starred with a chimp, and all the remarks about the Donald. As soon as someone left of center gets lampooned a little it seems that suddenly people "should be talking about stamps".
Everyone should relax. It's often stated but not followed enough: "if you don't like the thread don't read it".
I'm the only person who's objected, so I assume this is directed at me.
I didn't know what the subject of the thread was until I read it, and it's in the category "United States - Covers & Postmarks." That's why I said it should be moved.
And levity, at whose expense? Politically, this is a very closely divided country. Why the h**l introduce any post that one knows is going to p**s off half the country? I just don't understand. It reflects very poor judgment, imho.

Hey dave,
No my comment was not directed at you specifically. David also had said "at least the initial post was about a cover".
Look, I really don't care where this thread is positioned or if it exists at all. I suspect the cover image was posted to solicit funny responses in the first place. If that's the case, more power to Phil. Other than the Clintons being pictured it's rather forgettable in the first place.
My only thought is that if we can goof on Trump and Reagan than Bill and Shrillary should be fair game also.
Everyone on here talks about what ever they want that doesn't deal with stamps. They should let others indulge also.
I mean, the title of the thread is "what the hey, add your comment." Don't think he was looking for scholarly research on the cover.
Ernie
Ernie: I didn't see the posts about Trump and Reagan. Perhaps they were in the off-topic area? Or got moved there by the time I got to the board? I rarely look at those, for exactly those reasons.
I stand by my initial comment that this thread does not belong in a philatelic category.

Amazing, for years i thought of Stamporama as a "live and let live" venue...i guess i was mistaken...i guess we better all be careful from this point forward.
Phil,
I don't think anyone has a problem with your post, just the topic heading it is in. If I look in the US covers/postmarks I would like to see covers and be able to discuss them. You have to admit that cover could and will start a political discussion which is OK but I would rather see it in an off topic heading so I can avoid it if I choose.
