Reading in the specialized catalog the other day, I noticed that there were 4 orientations of the double line watermark. Thinking that the ones other than "normal" would be rare, I decided to experiment. I sat down with 115 specimens of scott #267, and watermarked them. 46 were regular orientation, 57 were reversed, 25 were inverted, and 27 were reversed and inverted.

Is this normal to have so many that are not normal orientation? I don't have a lot of experience with this issue and I don't recall the Washington/Franklins having this kind of variety.
