Wow! And something like 80 panes are still unaccounted for. Where could they be? Thinking

For those unaware of what I am referring to, in September of 2013 the US Postal Service issued a miniature sheet of 6 stamps, each showing the original Inverted Jenny stamp of 1918. 2.2 million panes were printed, among which were 100 panes that were printed right side up.

It is rumored that a Stamporama member is the lucky finder of one of the Upright Jenny panes.

Actually, it doesn't exactly show the original stamp. That one was a 24 cent value; the new ones were $2.00.

Here is an earlier thread on the subject: Inverted Jenny purchase - With the Upright Jenny.

Did the Post Office ever resolve, or even get called to task for, the little problem of having violated its own rules by issuing the intentional error? Seems a bad precedent--among the numerous other bad precedents of the past 30+ years.

Like a wrist slap, except without the slap part.

This whole situation is beyond stupid. USPS guaranteeing that the average collector will never be able to complete their collection of this era. The kind of thing that makes people walk away from the hobby!

This kind of nonsense form the USPS is one of the reasons I gave up on collecting US.
