I am putting together a list of things to look for when I'm trying to weed out fake Washington/Franklins. I would appreciate any corrections and especially any additions you can add. Thanks.
Hi Tusken,
They can be daunting. Part of the problem I keep running into is that the information is scattered everywhere. A crumb here, another there. I'm trying to gather it all together into one place, so I'm hoping others will contribute from publications I don't have. Having so many of them faked doesn't help either.
I might be able to help. I remember that in a three-ring binder that I packed away, there is a guide
I purchased many decades ago, just for identifying difficult US stamps. Especially the W/Fs. I'm in
the process of moving and in two places at once.
In a month or so, I should be able to get at them and see if they would be useful. Moving sucks,
and my family are too busy to help, so I'm on my own. At my age loading one SUV of stuff and un-
loading has me so exhausted, I can't do anything for a couple days afterwards.

re: Need input for this list
Great job you've done here! I've saved each page for future reference. My main reference for sorting W/F's is Micarelli's "Identification guide to U.S. Stamps" It is pretty much a must for any collectors of early U.S. stamps. If you do not have one I recommend it highly and it would probably help to add to your lists.
For anyone who does not know how to save your lists to their computer, simply right click on a page and the click "save page as". There are 5 different pages so far so make sure you get them all.
