Just getting back into collecting, so perhaps I am missing obvious clues.

GB 237 according to my Scott Catalogue is supposed to be red/brown. And indeed I have a red/brown version. But for some reason I also have a green version. Nowhere in the catalogue does it refer to a green 237. I admit it is late and I may have had a glass of wine. But, what am I missing? I believe I have the same issue with one of the other in this series.

Thanks!

The 1.5d pale green was a later printing that was released on the Third of May 1951. I haven't got a Scott catalogue so can't quote a number. There was a red brown version released in 1937 and a pale red brown in 1942. Enjoy the red.

Ah HA! Thanks much for that. This is what I get for only having the Scott Specialized Catagogue--1840 to 1940. If it went to 1950 I would have caught this. Since Great Britain seems to be going out its way to make my life miserable, I may have to look into acquiring a GB Scott catalogue as well.

Cheers
Eric

The Scott Classic Specialized does cover all of the George VI issues for Great Britain and the British Commonwealth. That was done in order to provide for the complete reign of the king.

Yes, the Scott classic catalogue had the info. Actually on the next page for heavens sake. Under "Types of 1937." And the listing. Totally missed it.

Thanks again,
Eric

George VI died in February 1952 and Elizabeth's coronation was about a year later so the set mentioned was used till the new QE II set was issued. There must have been an overlap but I do not recall that detail.
