Europe/Germany : Need help finding a word

04:43:52pm		In German, what would a 'Regier------sident Darmstadt' at the Hessen Ministry of Justice in Wiesbaden be translated as?

I get Regier being a possible form of Regent, but the middle letters are unclear to the point that I cannot even tell how many letters there are (I am guessing at 6 letters being unclear). I know where both Darmstadt and Wiesbaden are, I am just trying to figure out the title of the person the cover is addressed to. No actual name is used. This is an Israel to West Germany registered cover. It is dated 1975.

I cannot scan this cover.

I believe it's probably Regierungspräsident, the head of a regional council etc.

In 1975 the government president of the Darmstadt Region was Hartmut Wierscher of the SPD party. He had this position from 1968 to 1987.
