re: Scott 134 help

Welcome to stamp collecting!

Your stamp is the re-engraved die, so that would make it Scott #206(Aug1881). It catalogs at $1 for VF used in the 2016 Scott catalog. Your stamp has a straight edge, so that would drop the retail value significantly.

Still, a nice stamp to have in a collection. I didn't get one until after 10+ years of collecting.

If you have future questions, it is better to have a clear (not blurry) and flat picture. In most cases, scanned pictures are preferred.

re: Scott 134 help

Glad to be of help.

I neglected to mention, the quick way to identify the re-engraved die is to look at the white scrollwork at the top corners. In the re-engraved dies, there are lines of shading/features within the white scrollwork. In the original die, the inside of the scrollwork is all white (featureless).

Shucks, Bill, I've been stamping as an adult for over fifty years and I often mistake common stamps for ones with a premium. That is how my daughter got those cute "Cattle in a storm" stamps to clear coat on a school pottery cup she made for Father's day.
It's a long story.
