Howdy Everyone!,
I recently purchased a box full of stamps from antique shop for pretty cheap, and while most of them are a world wide mix i came across this us envelope from what looks like the consulate in Houston TX (pretty close to where i live). Ive identified it as UO86 but only prices i have found on it are for FDC's and my US/BNA stamp catalogue has a --- where the price should be lol. Some of the online research suggests a non-mint non-FDC cover could be worth something, but can't find a price range yet. Anyone have any info on this or perhaps can help point me in the right direction?
Wow, not a bad find at all then huh. Thanks K for the info! I'm assuming it would be more valuable to special collectors than the generalist. Has anyone seen one of these sell at auction before? Also, (in regards to proper posting etiquette) should I have censored out the address information in the picture before I posted the pic? Not sure if it's kosher to put someone's personal info out there when its not really THAT old. What do y'all think?
Yes, you would have to attract a specialist to get close to that catalog price. Either way, congratulations. It was very limited use official envelope, so used entires showing proper time/place of use are very uncommon. Thanks for posting it!
I agree, it was proper for you to obscure the addressee, because the cover would still be considered contemporary.
