Hi there

I just joined, so it's hello from me. I'm in South Bucks, in UK - that's about 30 miles north west of London. I've collected on and off for about 40 years - mainly Europe, but not GB. I have small collections of France pre 1940, Sweden (King Gustav 5), Iceland (the dual kingdom) and a few of the Kingdom of Laos - and, no, I know that's not in Europe. For the last couple of years I've collected engraved stamps from all over - I aim to get a representative sample of the more prolific engravers. After French, Austrian, Scandinavian, American, Dutch and Belgian engravers, as well as one British and an Australian, I'm now looking at the Italians and next the Russians, and then Central and South Aamerica. Lots to do, it's nice to see their work, and the stamps don't generally cost much.

Anyway, I recently bought a more recent Gibbons Scandinavia catalogue, which means I no longer need my old one. It's the Gibbons Pt 11 specialised cat, 2nd edition, 1982, so it's pretty old. But all the Scandinavian countries are there. If anyone would like it, it's yours for the cost of the postage - it weighs 240g.

Bye for now! from Strider

Welcome, Strider. No funny little people with furry feet here, but a lot of interesting folk nonetheless. Enjoy your stay!

Hi Strider;

Welcome to our little stamp club, we all hope that you enjoy it here.

If your interest is engraved stamps of Russia, the go to guy for that is Guthrum, who I believe
is also located in the UK. He seems to know a bit about the engravers of many Russian stamps.
Enjoy them!

Just sortin'....

Hi Strider

Glad to see another Brit here. Hope you can contribute a bit. There are not many Brits who take active part in the discussion - in fact there are very few of us outside the US/Canada - couple from the Netherlands and one from Finland are the only ones that immediately come to mind.

We have to educate the North Americans you know ( no offence). They are quite civilised though - and they don't bite ( well not often anyway !). To be serious for a moment, the view from this side of the pond does appear to be appreciated by our cousins.
