I'm playing with Sweden and ran across this stamp. It rather looks like my eyes want to see a paper fold when printing. Am I really seeing it correctly? If I am, in your opinion, is this a good fault?

Well I thought so at first so I started to play with it, you know try to straighten it out and then I stopped because it wasn't going to lay flat.
So, should I put it in water and see if it is just stuck to something? This really has me stumped. Not that I would be lucky enough to find a super great stamp, but in the same sense, I don't want to damage it.

And it never did go in water. This was out of Dianne's box of "too be sorted WW stamps", yes, I'm still going through all her wonderful stamps!

Though not greatly sought after, such folds are certainly collectable and can lend interest to an album's page. Not usually value, except to the owner, but interest, for sure

Whoops, after posting my personal feeling about this stamp I began to look through the Jay Smith Scandinavian stamps price list and tripped over my on tongue::

8 skilling " .... Bright Yellow, Thin Paper; Facit #4d [1855 8 Skilling Banco] (#4c per Scott Classic 2014, value $1150) Used with typical Just-Fine centering with unusually nice color and light cancellation. The paper is quite thin (and extremely good quality) and the cancellation clearly appears to be 1856 -- though the color has a tinge more orange than the typical Bright Yellow this must be the late-1856 Bright Yellow (thin paper) and not the later Orange Yellows of 1857-58 (which were on thicker paper). The stamp has a vertical crease that very much appears to be a PRE-PRINTING PAPER FOLD; at a minimum, it already had the fold before it was canceled. A very unusual type of variety on these issues. Excellent quality, especially for being on such thin paper. Facit 2014 value for sound examples this #4d color is SEK 14,000 = $2240. The majority of #4 are poorly centered -- and even most of those are usually defective or repaired. They seldom look this nice! Very reasonably priced. ...."
Although I can't see the fold with these eyes, apparently Jay Smith can.

I'm with you, I can't see the fold either. The stamp I have is not on thin paper, that much I can feel. I'm not counting on this being able to pay off my house, but it is in a safe spot until I can research it a bit further.

I am a bit "late to market" here, but what you have there is a pre-printing paper fold-- known in Swedish philately as "dragspel." Some versions of the Swedish Facit catalogue even list and price these errors/freaks... they are generally known on the earliest issues through about the Oscar II period (like yours). I have collected Sweden since about age 10 (45 years-- ugh!) and I have come across a few along the way... it's pretty much specialist material, collectible, but not quite out in "flyspecking" territory.
A quick lookup says your 5 öre green Oscar has a catalogue value of 250:- Swedish kr. with a pre-printing paper fold.
