That is a beautiful stamped envelope. I only collect cut squares, but in the case of that one
I would only do that if I had two one to trim for may album, and one to sell entire.
I've been saving up for a trip to Chitown....someday.

re: U603 Black omitted?
"Michael numbers" valuation is accurate, but in order to alleviate any misunderstanding on the part of readers of this thread, that is not the "black omitted" that you illustrate, it is a normal envelope.
The black portion is the dates and the USA 20c, the rest is purple. I could not find an image of the black omitted, however, here is the "purple omitted" variety and you can see the black portions:

The dates and USA 20c are in black, everything else is purple. (as can be seen in my original image, where the purple is missing, but the black portion is there).

Now I'm really confused, the envelope I have has the USA and 20c in purple as is the Inscription etc. in other words everything is in purple, what am I missing?

Bill, I think your eyes are getting as bad as mine. The dates and value in your original scan are black and the remainder is purple. It is sometimes difficult for me to differentiate between darker colors, and I think you are having the same problem. The envelope you originally scanned is normal in all respects.

re: U603 Black omitted?
Take a close look at the text on the envelope with good light and a magnifying glass. You will see that some is black, the rest is purple.
I can see the difference in the color in your original scan. It is probably complicated by the fact that your envelope appears (at least from the scan) to be rather badly toned. The original envelope is really quite white (see the First Day cover in my scan).
