I started collecting the League of Red Cross Societies and purchased issues from the Dominican Republic (B11-B20 & CB7-CB12. Looking them up in the Scott's catalog, I'm not so sure these are Red Cross issues. Looking on information about these stamp issues.
Hello.... I am not really sure what The League of Red Cross Societies entails. Could you explain in more detail? I collect issues for the Centenary of the International Red Cross.
There are many countries that issued stamps commemorating the founding of that country's chapter of the Red Cross; is that what you are collecting?
As Bill points out, the stamps you indicate are definitely not "Red Cross" issues. They were issued to collect surcharges for a United Nations Relief Agency.
Hi Terry, You'll remember me as the collector of UPU issues. You sent me some pages to make up a stamp display about two years ago. I joined the ATA and in doing so, I purchased all their check lists for the UPU, Red Cross and Sir Rowland Hill. The listing from them reads" League of Red Cross Societies and is 36 pages. Some years after the Red Cross, the adoption of a Red Crescent joined the Red Cross emblem. Now there are hundreds of more issues to be located. Last year, I noted 38 new issues world wide.
I also collect 1956 issues and Tall sailing ships. The 5 collections keep me very busy.
Currently I collect all Red Cross issues. I just attended a stamp show here in Oregon and purchased about 350 issues for my collection. Was lucky and added some 20 sailing ships I needed as well. Rowland Hill issues are a tad harder to locate.
Thank you for the help on the UN issues. Dealer took me for about $6 on that deal.
